OK, the surroundings may not be luxurious, it's just a decent local pub, but they make what is probably the world's best steak pie. It simply cannot be bettered and justifies a visit on its own. Service is friendly and prices are fair. What's not to like?

Came across this pub / hotel whilst staying at the nearby Carnoustie Golf Hotel. Always a friendly welcome from the bar staff and the food served was outstanding, highly recommend.

Turned up on Friday night without a booking and the staff managed to squeeze us in. Really nice decor and atmosphere. TVs everywhere in the bar to catch sports. There is another area behind the bar which I think may have been the proper restaurant area. Really extensive menu, staff were friendly and the food was great. For a group of four, two alcoholic drinks each, three starters and four mains. Change from £100 which I thought was excellent value.

When we arrived, there was noone at reception to help us. The parking was hard to find. The plug in the bath didnt work. The fridge was not working, the toilet seat was broken, and this was all within the first 2 hours of check in. The next day, we were offered breakfast in the pub, but no one was around to make or serve us breakfast. This trip has left us feeling more like we are a nuisance, more than anything else.

Just stopped for a pint and some steak pie and ended up meeting some of the locals -- I have to say how wonderful it was to strike up conversations and be greeted by absolute warmth and kindness! Thanks Graeme C. And his loyal 4 legged furry companion for making me feel right at home. Highly recommend!

Went for drinks and food with my brother to watch the football and have a catch up. The staff are very friendly, food and drinks are delicious. Not stayed I the hotel yet however definitely would check it out if I am in the area for longer period of time.

This is our local watering hole. Two mins from the Carnoustie beach and about a 5-10 walk from our house.
On this occasion we didn’t have food, but it is worthwhile calling out there’s a good menu with plenty of options. The food itself is very good, big call out for the sundaes especially 😋.
The bar is dog friendly, and the people behind the bar are clearly dog lovers. You’ll be offered a bowl of water without asking, likely get offered some biscuits and no doubt your doggo will also get a big fuss.
There’s a decent drinks selection too. Lots of draught beers to pick from including morretti, peroni, madri and of course the big tennents 🙌🏼.
Service is good and the bar staff are always incredibly friendly. Like all pubs, it’s a bit hit or miss how busy it will be dependent on what sports are on tv etc.
Definitely a place to visit if you want to have a relaxed night in Carnoustie.
The listing has it listed as no dogs allowed, I assume that is for the hotel, but the bar is definitely very dog friendly.

This was a very nice place to stay. The room was clean and tidy, bed was comfy. The staff were great, and the breakfast was lovely too.would recommend it.

What a great little place. Rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was plentiful and great. The bar in the evening was super with good selection of beers and spirits and good chat and laugh with the locals drinking there. Will certainly stay on my next trip.

Visited here twice last week and both times the food was amazing. The service was exemplary and the staff were very welcoming. Small car park but plenty of on road parking

Had a superb 2 night stay, breakfast was all you could ask for, staff very friendly and helpful , room had all you need and very comfortable and would also recommend the meals
